My fascination with desserts started as a child growing up in Brooklyn, watching in great anticipation as my grandmother rolled out pie crust for her chocolate cream and lemon meringue pies. Easter was a bounty of her homemade Italian specialty cakes: wheat pie, ricotta cheesecake and her very own chocolate and vanilla cake, which sealed my love affair with, and fascination for, desserts. It consisted of homemade chocolate and vanilla puddings layered with rum soaked sponge cake and covered with fresh whipped cream, and lovingly decorated with maraschino cherries.
Over the past fifteen years, I’ve built Mrs. B’s Specialty Cakes from a small dessert company into a specialty bakery. Whether it's a decadent chocolate cake, birthday cake or even more important, your Wedding Cake for that special day, taste should never be compromised. Only the finest ingredients are used. All cakes are baked to order to insure freshness.
While Mrs. B, herself, will continue to specialize in buttercream finished cakes, decorated with fresh flowers, she is proud to announce that her daughter Dana has joined Mrs. B's Specialty Cakes. Dana attended FIT, as a design major and, recently studied at the French Culinary Institute and has become proficient in the art of Sugar Paste Flowers and Rolled Fondant.
The unique combination of Mrs B's talent for baking and her daughter's flair for design enables us to offer a wide variety of custom cakes to suit every occasion.
